with Jeff Gobin
This session begins in
This hands-on session with Jeff Gobin demonstrates how to use digital manipulatives to build students' conceptual and procedural UNDERSTANDING of key math concepts, while showing how different mathematical representations CONNECT across topics like fractions, decimals, and division, ultimately providing you with practical tools to help students actively EXPERIENCE and explore mathematics in your classroom. Even though Jeff uses examples for 3rd-5th grade, if you aren't familiar with BrainingCamp please watch so you can learn how to use your FREE access to BrainingCamp. Jeff shares lots of information about how and why to use math manipulatives in this session.
I’ve made it easy for you to take the information and inspiration from the virtual math summit sessions and implement it into your classroom so that you can start to become a Recovering Traditionalist. Capture all the amazing ideas, take notes and plan what the next steps are that you’ll put in place in your classroom with your Virtual Math Summit Workbook. If you registered for the VMS Summit you already received this resource via email. If you are watching this session and have not registered, do so now and get the Summit Workbook.
At the END of the Virtual Math Summit, we will email summit registrants a link to a Certificate Request form. We do this so that your sessions can be consolidated into one certificate. If you are watching this session but never registered for the Virtual Math Summit and you want a certificate and the VMS Workbook, click the button below to register and ensure you receive the emails about certificates.
All attendees of the 2025 Virtual Math Summit get access to BrainingCamp’s virtual manipulatives for 6 months. On their site, you can sign up for 30 days without paying, but because you registered for the summit, BrainingCamp is giving you 6 months!
HOW TO REDEEM:
Elementary math is my passion! I started my career in education as a 2nd Grade Teacher for six years. I also taught 4th Grade for three years. I then became an Elementary Math Specialist & Instructional Coach for 8 years. I helped teachers plan lessons, worked with intervention groups, and modeled lessons within their classrooms.
My school district purchased a Brainingcamp (Digital Math Manipulatives) license during distance learning and I found myself using it on a daily basis as a teaching tool. I loved creating online lessons and sharing all of the creative ways teachers could use the program within their classroom.
Last February, I joined the EdTech world in my new position as "Engagement Manager" for Brainingcamp. In this position I have the opportunity to help teachers on a much bigger scale. I create videos for our social media, do online training sessions with teachers, and create content that teachers can use with their students.
Inside the BMM Professional Development Site you will find professional development training at your fingertips. Training that will help you understand the elementary mathematical concepts and teaching pedagogy that will help you build your student's math minds. You'll also find...
The BMM site focuses on building Content, Community, and Your Confidence.
Build Math Minds is designed to build your Content Knowledge, your Confidence in teaching math, and give you a Community of like-minded educators that understand what you are going through as you try to build math-thinkers, not calculators. With years of Virtual Math Summit trainings (since 2017) you will learn from experts including Robert Kaplinsky, Berkeley Everett, Mike Flynn, Dr. Nicki Newton, Pamela Harris, Catherine Fosnot, Graham Fletcher, Dr. Douglas Clements, Rosalba Serrano, and soooooo many more!
By registering for the 2025 Virtual Math Summit you agree to receive information and offers from Build Math Minds. You will be able to adjust your email preferences but all VMS communication will arrive through email. Only enter your SMS number if you want text reminders. Because some school districts prohibit a variety of "outside" email, our email may not arrive in your inbox. If you do not receive a confirmation email from us, please contact us at info@buildmathminds.com or consider using a personal email address. *If you have already registered for the summit you do NOT need to submit this form as you are already on the list to get the link to request the certificate and the workbook should have already been emailed to you.
